the corn guy · live prototype

meet cornrad.

He lives in the header. He's random, but he's paying attention: every face is a reaction to something you did, picked from how he's feeling right now. Never a loop.

the rules he lives by.

  1. random, but aware.

Five moods fade slowly and drift on their own. His resting face and every random moment come from whatever he's feeling, so he never runs a loop.

  2. looking is free. faces are rationed.

He glances at almost everything you do. Full expressions come out of a small budget, and doing the same thing over and over gets less of a reaction.

  3. worried only for real problems.

Form errors and failed payments. Never for removing something, leaving, or taking your time at Pay. It's capped, and fixing it gets a "phew".

  4. he follows, never leads.

He reacts to what you did and looks where you look. He never stares at Buy, never sulks, never comments on totals.

  5. tap to send him home.

He takes trips: the hero, a peek, a perch on the buy bar, a corner float. Tap him and he flies home. Shoo him twice and he stays home.

  6. hold to squish.

He springs back slowly, like a real squishy. Squishes 1–3 delight him, 4–6 bore him, 7 gets a stare, 10 gets shades.

  7. knows when to stay put.

No trips while you type, in checkout, or during errors. He never covers buttons, prices or fields. Card and password fields: husks over his eyes.

  8. never upside down.

Flicks wobble him at most 25°. Chill keeps him still; off makes him a logo again. Reduced-motion users start on chill.
